It has been a busy week for me. I have written 10,000 to 15,000 Chinese words and 10,000 English words for the translation and transcription work for the week.

The transcription work is particularly fun, for I am working on my favourite language pair: Cantonese to English. At my normal speed, for a video / audio file of 40 to 70 minutes, I can transcribe into English within 8 to 12 hours. With a proofreading for an hour or two on the next morning, I can send the file back to the client.

Cantonese legal transcription, such as the clips of Hong Kong lawyers discussing laws and cases of the territory, will require more time.

The Cantonese file I am working on is a business audio recording and I completed it within my usual turnaround time. But since the client requires timestamp of each sentence, I have to work through the weekend to get all timestamp records done.

Thankfully, a new song of Kay Tse (謝安琪) accompanied me throughout the transcription work. I let the song play concurrently, so when I paused the business record to transcribe into English lines, the song is still playing.

Still need the hard work for the weekend but since I am working on Cantonese, I am still happy to get it done. Let’s see what I can achieve when I allocate 12 hours for work today.
