I have been working on Taiwan legal document translation for one whole week. I slightly slowed down the speed of my translation process amid longer turnaround time. The slow but smooth work is only possible with the help of printed legal dictionary.
The dictionary – A Chinese – English Dictionary of Law – was a 2009 version published in Taiwan. Most of legal terms used in Taiwan, I believed, were included in the dictionary.
It is a very good source for me to write legal terms consistently in documents. To search a Chinese legal term, firstly, you need to count the stroke of the first word and look up for the page number and find the Chinese term for the correct English term.
Yes, it takes some time. But the good thing is, I spend more time on the first draft so that I spend much shorter time on proofreading.
