臺語的表達非常豐富，我個人閩南語說得不好，但還是常常從臺語歌學習這個語言獨有的表達方式與詞彙。我以我個人理解嘗試將伍佰的〈熱淚暗班車〉一些詞句寫成華語和英語，有志於臺語研究的朋友請多多指教。
Taiwanese Hokkien has a great variety when it comes to expression. Despite the fact that I can’t speak the language well, I still learn the unique expression and terms of the language from Taiwanese songs. I have taken some terms of this song Tearful Night Train by Wubai to convert into Mandarin and English. Friends who are working on Taiwanese Hokkien research are welcomed to correct me if my understanding of the language is inaccurate.
心頭掠定：拿定主意
(sim-thâu lia̍h tiānn): Make up your mind
毋通：不好、不可以
(m̄ thang): Do not, must not.
擱：還、又、再
(koh): Still
緊：快速、迅速
(kín): Quick, hastened.
內底：裡面、內部
(lāi-té): Inside, interior
遮濟人：這麼多人
(tsiah tsē lâng): Many people, very crowded.
擠佇：困在
(tsik tī): Squeezing in
熱涙的暗班車：熱淚盈眶的夜間車
(jia̍t luī àm pan tshia): Tearful night bus / train
電火那光顯顯：路上燈火通明
(tiān-hué ná kng hiánn): Bright street light along the way
外口攏予黑（烏）色包圍：外邊被一片漆黑包圍
(guā-kháu lóng hōo oo-sik pau-uî): The view outside is surrounded by darkness.
我乾焦看到（著）窗仔的家己：我只看到車窗反映的自己
(guá kan ta khuànn tio̍h thang á –ê ka-kī): I only saw the reflection of myself on the window.
欲返（轉）去：要回去
(beh tńg khì): Want to go back.
這馬：現在
(tsit-má): Right now.
