寫字幕通常很耗時間，更仔細的時間紀錄更是如此。以前不熟悉字幕工作的時候，常常開著影音檔案盯著一句句話的開始與結束時間點，之後一個個寫下來，用了很長時間才寫好一份SRT檔案。
這個方式實在太吃力，於是學了 Aegisub 程式。這個程式呈現對話的音檔波浪形狀，拉前拉後就可以確認一句句話的時間點，而且馬上可以寫字幕。直接寫謄寫當然可以很快，若不需要記錄時間的話。使用 Aegisub 程式固然拉長一些工作時間，但是成果包括對話時間紀錄與字幕，而且程式上可以直接產出SRT檔案，可謂一石二鳥。
如今有客戶詢問，我大概都會問他們是否需要中英文字幕的SRT檔案。影音檔交給我就可以完成幾件事，省時省力總是好的。
Subtitling usually takes a long time. It is particularly time consuming, when you are recording a detailed time stamps. When I was unfamiliar with subtitling work in the past, I was writing the time codes for each sentence by jotting down the time records from a video player. Those were the old days when it took me a long time to produce an SRT file.
This was too troublesome a method. And I learned Aegisub software, which presents the wave forms of conversation of speakers. By pulling forward and backward, the time codes for one sentence can be confirmed. And I can write subtitles immediately.
A direct transcription can be quick, if clients require no time stamps. It takes longer time when working on Aegisub software. It is killing two birds with one stone, however, when the outcome includes time codes for conversation lines and subtitles. You can also export an SRT file.
When clients submit an inquiry, I now ask them if they want an SRT file with Chinese and English subtitles.
It is always good to save time for them when they can have several job scopes done on my side.
