Observing Hong Kong’s development from Southeast Asia, it shocked me when I heard some HK YouTubers said there are now about ten per cent of Hongkongers suffering from depression – an exponential growth from two or so per cent before the current political crisis.

Other than depression and anxiety disorder, I worry if more people are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) – particularly after they watched mob / terrorist attack by white-shirt thugs in Yuen Long. I personally did not dare to watch those recordings. What I heard was that some Hongkongers suffered from anxiety and depression after watching those disturbing clips.

If you know you can’t cope with the pressure, it is advisable that you avoid viewing such recordings once and for all. And if necessary, stay away from receiving political messages – directly or indirectly via your communication means and social media page.

Seek help from mental health professionals if you feel troubled.
